All About Poodles

History:
The origin of the poodle is definitely a topic of debate.  Some believe that the hunting dogs depicted on the walls of ancient Egyptian tombs resemble the poodle.  Others are not convinced poodles are from Egypt.  Historians can trace the breed back to the East German Goth tribe of the mid-6th century, where they were trained and used as herding animals.  Because of the poodle's web-like feet, they were breed to be hunting dogs that could be easily taught to retrieve birds from the water.  In fact, the English word poodle got it's origin from the German word "pudel," (which means "to splash in water.") It's also believed that the sleek cut of the poodle was designed to make them more efficient in the water
